Privacy Policy
This page is maintained by NerdzLab to answer common privacy questions about the NerdzLab Giveaways service. It describes the controls and practices that are visible in the app today. It is not an independent certification or legal audit.
1. Overview
NerdzLab Giveaways runs Counter-Strike skin giveaways every stream through a case-style spinner. The prize pool resets monthly on the 1st. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your privacy rights.
2. What we collect
We collect only the information needed to run giveaways:
- Platform identifiers. When you link Twitch or YouTube and Discord, we receive and store your platform user ID, username/display name, and (for Discord) your roles in the NerdzLab server.
- Follow / subscription status. We read whether you follow twitch.tv/nerdzlab or are subscribed to the NerdzLab YouTube channel at signup time.
- Steam trade URL and derived profile. We parse your trade URL to compute your public Steam ID, then fetch your public persona, avatar, visibility, level, and account creation date.
- Public platform metadata. For anti-bot review, we may store public signals such as account creation date, follower/subscriber count, video count, profile visibility, and Steam level.
- Giveaway records. When an admin records a spin winner, we store the winner name and the item that was awarded.
- Account link audit log. Every time you link, re-link or change one of your connected accounts (Twitch, YouTube, Discord, Steam trade URL) we record the date and time, your IP address, a device fingerprint derived from your browser, and the previous and new account identifiers. Previously linked account IDs are retained on your profile. We use this to detect multi-accounting and to review winners.
- Ongoing verification records. After signup we periodically re-check your NerdzLab Discord membership and Verified role, your Discord connections, and your public Twitch, YouTube and Steam display names. We store the result of each check (compliant / non-compliant plus a reason), the time it ran, and any refreshed display names. Previous names are kept so past winnings still resolve to you.
- CAPTCHA response. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to verify you are human during signup. Turnstile may process technical data such as browser characteristics; Cloudflare's privacy policy governs that processing.
3. How we use your information
- To authenticate you and prevent duplicate or fake accounts.
- To deliver giveaway prizes to the correct Steam inventory.
- To keep a public record of giveaway winners and awarded items.
- To flag suspicious accounts for admin review using public platform signals.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the security of the service.
4. Legal basis
We process your data based on your consent (when you choose to link an account) and our legitimate interest in running secure, fair giveaways and preventing abuse.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as necessary to operate the service: with the platform you linked (to verify your account), with Cloudflare (for Turnstile verification), and with our hosting provider for infrastructure. Winner names and item details are displayed publicly in the giveaway history.
6. Data retention
We keep your profile and platform links for as long as you participate in giveaways. The giveaway item inventory resets on the 1st of each month, but spin history and winner records are retained for transparency. You can request deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, authenticated access controls, and database row-level security. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please keep your accounts secure.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
We use essential cookies and local storage to maintain your session and signup state. Cloudflare Turnstile may set cookies or use similar technologies as part of its verification process.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The latest version will always be available at this page with an updated effective date.
11. Contact us
If you have questions about this privacy policy or your data, please contact the app owner at privacy@thenerdzlab.com.
